In Music and Song, Blackbear Students are introduced to the world of music performance.  Every class is divided into three parts: appreciation, singing, and rhythm.  Students will gain a beginning appreciation of different musical styles (jazz, classical, Rock’n’Roll) by listening to examples, discussing, and playing related musical games.  The little prodigies also get the chance to learn new songs different from the standard pre-school repertoire sure to stretch their vocal abilities.  Every week we will rehearse our own band, a percussion/vocal fusion machine called The Screaming Monkeys.  Making a band starts to teach us about tempo, rhythm, beats, counting, and playing as a group, and it sure is a lot of fun.  The class meets every Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 to 3:00 and is taught by Miss Kate and the newest addition to the Blackbear academic team, Mr. Aaron—boy, does he know how to rock and roll!  Music and Song will surely get the kids’ creative juices flowing and form a basic musical language to inspire them to discover more about music as they grow up.  Email abenham@blackbearacademy.com with any questions.  Bravo!
